QuesTec welcomes new team members on the company’s first signing day.
QuesTec HVAC Services and Mechanical Contracting had its first signing day Tuesday, May 7, to induct new team members Patrick Nichols and Brady Nickamp. Nichols and Nickamp will graduate from State Tech this month and will continue their training in QuesTec’s apprenticeship program.
The apprenticeship program will be an additional two years of on-the-job learning coupled with some classroom training via Interplay Learning.
Jane Moore, QuesTec director of human resources and workforce development, explained that the program and State Tech education will amount to four years of training, which will equip both men to test for their journeyman license as HVAC service technicians.
“Brady and Patrick will complete our HVAC apprenticeship program as full time, permanent employees,” Moore said in an email. “We cover all of the costs of this program, helping to launch their career in commercial hvac service.”
QuesTec Service provides commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) services. Through registered apprenticeships, QuesTec celebrates its partnership with the Department of Labor and Interplay Learning to equip its workforce with the skills needed for the HVAC/R service industry.

Partnering with State Tech invests in and promotes individual growth of future QuesTec technicians. State Tech’s website touts the Osage County technical college as the “Employer’s Choice” by producing graduates who are prepared to enter the workforce.
“State Tech is an obvious choice to partner with because of our mutual mission to train and employ future generations of skilled professionals,” Moore added.
Company officials said Nichols and Nickamp impressed the QuesTech team with their willingness to learn and work hard.
“We are thrilled to welcome Patrick and Brady to our team,” said Matt Boyd, general manager and principal of QuesTec Service. “Their passion for the HVAC/R industry aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver exceptional service to our clients.”
Bert Kendall, president of QuesTec Service Companies, offered Nichols and Nickamp a warm welcome to the company, congratulating them at Tuesday’s signing day event. The new employees were joined by colleagues, mentors, friends, family, and QuesTec community partners.
“People make a big deal out of athletes signing to play a sport for college, even if it’s NAIA,” Boyd said. “We should be celebrating career achievements, as well, so here we are.”
