What are some misconceptions about your job?

I think there’s a misconception that we build a retail project and then sit back and tenants approach us to lease the spaces. Unfortunately, there’s a lot more work require than “build it and they will come.” We spend a lot of time and money on recruitment efforts throughout the year. This includes a variety of leasing conferences. In 2018, I attended eight different deal making shows, took prospecting trips around the state and region, and constantly researched through trade publications and online sources to learn new and emerging brands that are actively expanding.
