As team lead, owner, and therapist at The Oak Center for DBT & Counseling Services, Brighton Sanchez is passionate about closing the gap for people who are unable to get the mental health services and treatment that they need. She’s on a mission to help more private practice therapists learn how to work with health insurance plans to open services to more people.

And did you know … Brighton also plays the bagpipes? She was accepted earlier this spring as a member of the Boone County Fire Pipes and Drums band. “I have always been enthralled with them and wanted to play for the longest time,” she says.

If that’s not quite enough “uniqueness,” here’s another fun fact: Brighton has webbed toes. “And before you ask,” she demurs, “it unfortunately does not make me a better swimmer.”

Congratulations, Brighton, on being named one of CBT’s 2026 20 Under 40 honorees!
