Real Estate Loan Officer, First National Bank – Age: 32
In April 1996, after earning her bachelor’s degree in management and marketing from Columbia College, Sherry Julian Waddill moved to Tulsa, Okla., where she began working for State Bank & Trust Company as a teller and human resources administrator. In August 1999 Waddill came back to Columbia to join First National Bank & Trust Company, where she has since held the positions of teller supervisor, branch manager, personal loan office and real estate loan officer.
Waddill is active in the Columbia Chamber of Commerce through the Total Resource Campaign, the alternate income committee, the Women’s Network’s public relations and steering committees and the 2007 Business Conference & Showcase. She is a member of the Women’s Council of Realtors and the Columbia Board of Realtors and also has been involved in fund-raising for Women’s Intersport Network, the Center Missouri Humane Society, March of Dimes, and Multiple Sclerosis.
Waddill and her husband, Charley, have two Siberian Huskies, Yana and Altai. In her free time she enjoys reading, seeing movies at the theater, listening to music at some of Columbia’s live music venues, and spending time with friends and family.
“Columbia could be bettered by adding completely enclosed dog parks. I feel that our community park system has done a great job of providing off leash areas for pet owners, however, it could be greatly improved by creating more safe and secure places for families to play with their dog without fear of the dog getting away,” said Waddill. “People who don’t own dogs but are considering ownership could also visit an enclosed dog park, meet dog owners, obtain further understanding of what it means to own a dog, and then perhaps gain the inclination to adopt a pet from the Central Missouri Humane Society or Second Chance.”
